Male Corporate Fashion

Not all men can get away with dressing like Chuck Bass, but every girl can dream right?  Or I can just buy my man clothes to fulfill my Gossip Girl fantasies.....

Men's Corporate Fashion Tips:
  • Don't wear a bow-tie. They rarely work.
  • Unless you are a quirky teacher, leave the novelty ties at home.
  • Wear clothes that fit well.
  • Look after your clothes. Would it kill you to hang them up??
  • Don't trust sales assistants' opinions. They are there to make a sale, not to police your fashion choices.
  • Attention to detail. Scuffed shoes can ruin a whole outfit.
  • Dress for your size. Muscle-y guys who wear tight shirts in the office look like they have boobs.
  • Don't be afraid of accessories.

Office Fashion Icon - Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo is old news, but I still love her style as inspiration for office wear. She is a socialite, and according to The City she's a bitch. But hey, fashion can't always be nice.

She has a killer body and a beautiful face.

On a side note my blog is now mobile phone friendly, and its new domain is cubiclefashionista.com.

Also, I received my ASOS tops from this post, and although the styles are cute and on trend, the quality is shite, as bas as if I had headed to Kmart. I'm glad the items I bought were on sale.  I guess that's what you get for buying the in-house brand.

I'm keeping the shirts since its cheaper than returning them to the UK, but they will probably fall apart in a couple of wears.  Also, all the shirts gape at the bust, so I'm going to have to pin them.  I guess Cue is going to get more of my money till I find somewhere else to buy office clothes (without breaking the bank).

"Whoever said that money doesn't buy happiness didn't know where to shop"

As a new graduate at work, I sometimes  feel like my manager is Blair Waldorf and I'm her doting minion.  I follow her around, she tells me to do things, I do her printing and I'm at her every beck and call.  It's gotten to the point where I'm subconsciously dressing like her, and I've started talking like her too.  This is how the corporate structure works, and this is the basis for my argument that Gossip Girl is educational for the corporate woman.

It's no secret that Blair Waldorf is one of my work-wear fashion icons.  Blair understands my fashion-sense and she epitomizes it, albeit in clothing that's worth more than a lifetime supply of Justin Bieber's hair.

For a start, she understands how to wear a tie without accidentally looking like a lesbian (not that there's anything wrong with that).

She can wear a neck scarf without looking like a girl scout or a flight attendant.

She knows how to dress classically, without looking old and frumpy

Best of all, she doesn't dress like Jenny Humphrey, which is a sure fire way to get fired and/or get invited to "after work drinks" in the "partner's bar".
