I am not a hipster, my glasses are prescription

When I was in year four I was copying some work off my friend when she blew up at me.  She didn't want me to copy her work anymore. "Can't you see the board???", she blurted out in a captain-obvious tone.  This was my epiphany.  I was blind, I had been walking around for ten years of my life unable to see anyone else.  This explains my gross motor skills and my inability to catch any object thrown at me.

So at age ten, I got glasses, and I hated them every since.  They fogged up when I got embarrassed, they need their own windscreen wipers in the rain, and I could never see anything during swimming lessons.

On my sixteenth birthday, I got contacts and never looked back.  My feelings towards glasses have always been ones of pure hatred and repulsion.

Somehow, hipsters have brought non-prescription glasses into their fashion.  They don't need them, yet they want to wear them.  Worse, for me, are when people wear glasses and they don't even have lenses.

Anyway, apparently it's not good to wear contacts for every waking hour of your life.  So I ended up getting some glasses.  Although I still hate them. The below are Alex Perry.

... and these are some SpecSavers "designer brand" but they are cute watermelon colours.

I thought I'd use the rest of this post to try to convince myself that some people do look alright in glasses.  Also, that everyone who looks mildly alright in glasses is not pretending to be a "sexy teacher" or a "hot librarian" in a porno.

Cate Blanchett is looking pretty good.

Jennifer Garner looks better without the glasses, but she still looks good, as always.

Wow, Lindsay Lohan looks like she's not an alcoholic with those glasses on.

Okay Eva Longoria, you've convinced me to try the whole wearing-glasses-outside-of-my-house thing.

  1. You rock those glasses! Both pairs are great. I'm another person who has to wear glasses all the time to see. Once you find a nice pair (and someone who you trust to advise on them) you definitely do feel better about wearing glasses.

Hipsters and their fake glasses annoy me too.

What annoys me more are those people I know who are meant to wear glasses fulltime, but whinge about how "I don't like the way they make me look". Do they think I had a choice in the matter?

You keep rocking your glasses. Remember, Blair (gossip girl) had a pair she wore from time to time too.
